Your drawings stay yours.

Romby Reader opens drawings on your computer. Nothing is uploaded unless you pin a set up for your team.

Last updated October 30, 2026
  • Your account is your email and your plan. Your drawings never reach us unless you pin them up.
  • With Pinup we keep your email, the sets you pin up and your team's markups and replies, only for your team.
  • No ads, no tracking, no selling. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.

Drawings and markups on your computer

When you open a PDF in the Mac app, the Windows app or the web version, it's read and drawn on your computer. Markups, measurements, scales and settings are saved into the PDF or on your computer. None of it is sent to us.

Your account

You sign in with your email address and a one-time code; there are no passwords. We keep your email, your plan and when your license was last confirmed. Once you've signed in, Romby Reader works without internet and checks your license again from time to time when you're online. None of this involves your drawings.

Pinup: sharing with your team

When you use Pinup we also keep:

  • Your teams and the role you have on each.
  • The sets you pin up (the PDF files), and the markups, scales, replies and mentions your team adds to them.
  • An activity log of who did what and when (pinned a set, changed markups, removed a reply), so a team can see its history.

Only members of the team a set was pinned to can open it. Your data is encrypted on its way to us and where it's stored. A copy of each pinned set you open is kept on your computer so it works offline; signing out removes those copies.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist we keep your email address, when you joined and which form you used. We use it to write to you when Romby Reader is ready, and for nothing else. To stop spam, a scrambled form of your internet address is kept for one day. Ask us and we'll take you off the list.

This website and the apps

  • No cookies, analytics or tracking on this website.
  • The website's type comes from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google for it.
  • The apps check for updates by downloading a small file from GitHub. Nothing about you is sent with it.
  • Our hosts keep ordinary server logs (such as internet addresses) for a short time to keep things running and secure.

Who helps us run it

We use a few companies to provide the service. They handle data only to do that job for us:

  • Supabase: sign-in, the database and file storage for accounts, Pinup and the waitlist.
  • Resend: sends the sign-in code emails.
  • Cloudflare: hosts this website and the web version.
  • GitHub: hosts the app downloads and updates.

We don't share your data with anyone else, unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

We keep your account and Pinup data while your account exists. You can delete your account in the app (account menu, then Delete my account). Teams where you're the only member are deleted with their pinned sets, and your email is replaced by "Deleted user" in other teams' history. A team's owners and admins can take sets off Pinup at any time. You can also ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold about you.

Children

Romby Reader is made for professionals and isn't meant for anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change this page we'll update the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it applies.
